Day3: Swarga Naatil En Priyan
(In my father’s house)

There is this amazing story told of a father who dug for about 38 hours amidst the rubble left behind by a massive earthquake – to find his son. The school building had collapsed, and the whole place was now covered with sirens wailing and firefighters making their way in a last-minute rescue bid. As the other parents wept and looked at the pile of debris lying before them, this dad gathered his emotions and tried to concentrate on where he walked his son to school each morning. Remembering his son’s classroom would be in the back right corner of the building, he pushed past the rescue workers and began to dig through the rubble. “There’s no point!”, “You are upset and distraught…but you can’t possibly get anything out of this!” “Fire explosions are happening, this isn’t safe!” – The comments kept pouring from those around him, but he just kept digging. The hours stretched from 8 to 12 to 24 to 36, and yet there was nothing.

At the 38th hour, just as he removed a huge boulder, he seemed to hear faint muffles. Wondering if he imagined it, he screamed out his son’s name. “Daaaaad!” came the reply! When the building collapsed, it made a wedge, like a triangle, and right under it were trapped 14 kids along with his son. “I knew it, Dad! I knew you’ll come! I had told all my friends here to just hang on & wait coz I know my dad will come to get me!” Many moons ago, this dad had promised his son - “No matter what happens, son, just know that I’ll always be there for you – I’ll always come get you.” It was a heart-deal they knew was made, and the son held on to it as he waited patiently beneath the rubble, giving hope to others to hold on just a little longer!

That is the exact heart-deal echoed in this song! The one Jesus made with us when He said – “When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.” (John 14:3 NLT).

"Swarga Naatil en priyan theerthidum, swantha veetil cherneeduaan” translated as: “In that land of glory, my beloved One is preparing a mansion for me, and soon He’ll come to take me home!”

This song is a shout-out to His promise!

Whether you are buckling under the weight of life or wedged in between situations just barely surviving – just as the songwriter was; Know that this ain’t it. There’s more than our eyes have ever dared to dream! A glorious day when we’ll be ushered into that mansion of delight – finally free of the rubble and the weight, for He who pledged to come and get you – will come!

This crazy-hope is what lifted the songwriter's eyes from the things around him to the hope shining above him, and out came this anthem of praise!

Prayer:

God, I thank you for the reassurance that you’ll find me, no matter where I am or how far away I’ve wandered. Lord, help me believe in you and know that your promises are always a “yes.” Thank you for the gift of salvation and for redeeming my life. I put my trust in you today. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Scriptures:

John 14:3 (NLT)

2 Corinthians 4:18 (NLT)
